    1. Hi Maureen

I am so glad that you 'stumbled' on these blogs and happier still that you contacted me. I do remember you visiting Manubi many years back.

When Shirley (my wife) and I lived in the Somerset West (Cape Town) area, also a few decades back, I recall visiting with your mother, Aunty Chrissie, in Lakeside(?), near Muizenberg. I think that was home for you.

My parents, Noel and Daphne have passed on now. I had the privilege of interring their ashes on the beach near Gericke's Rock, near Sedgefield where they last lived.

I have been doing quite a bit of research into the Allens of Transkei including Ralph and Phil Allen's WWll service in Tobruk, North Africa. The blogs are a first attempt to record something in a form that is more easily accessed than the boxes and albums of artifacts I have inherited. As an only child, I became the custodian of most of our Allen memorabilia and am trying to keep something for a future generation or two that will not be a burden for them.

I have a picture of your father and my father in a row boat together. You probably have it as well, but I will email it to you anyway.
